Wandering Rocks exhibition
Wandering Rocks follow-on exhibition
Six artists from As Time Goes By, the exhibition I have co-curated, have been selected by Stephen Snoddy, Director of the New Art Gallery in Walsall, for his exhibition Wandering Rocks at Stone Space Gallery. The exhibition will take place 26th July-19th August. The exhibition will feature selected works from the over 70 artists participating in the Leytonstone Arts Trail.
"It was a pleasure to go on the Leytonstone Art Trail and see so much art activity across all disciplines and to see the community embrace the visual arts. This can only go from strength to strength and I look forward to seeing 'Wandering Rocks' at the Stone Space Gallery.
‘Wandering Rocks’ is episode ten of James Joyce’s classic Ulysses. It consists of nineteen short views of characters, major and minor, as they make their way around Dublin in the afternoon. Within each subsection, short, disjunctive paragraphs pop up that depict a simultaneous action in some other part of the city. My concept is that Leytonstone becomes Dublin for the day and that 19 artists are chosen to reflect the day."- Stephen Snoddy
Selected artists: Paul Morris, Robert Jackson, Paul Tucker, Andrew Super, Gillian Drinkwater, Julia Spicer.
The As Time Goes By exhibition continues until July 21st.
Here is an earlier post about the show.
The Stone Space Gallery, 6 Church Lane Leytonstone E11 1HG.
Stephen Snoddy signified his selection of the works by applying a blue dot. This is the piece he chose by Paul Morris.

Turnaround 11 - the final exhibition of the series
I co-curated Turnaround: 11 exhibitions in 12 weeks (extended to 13 weeks). What a mad thing to do.
A new exhibition opened every Saturday with an evening party the following Thursday.
This is the last one!
April 21st - May 4th
The final exhibition is a group of 15 artists: Julie Caves, Helen Porter, Julian Beere,
Rachel I'Anson, Anna Alcock, Ellen Jones, Diana Furlong,Timothy Kraemer, Marie-Louise Plum, Anna Bissett, Maureen Morris, Lissa Chapman, Sue Higgins, Katja Rosenberg, Valeria Bateson. I have 2 paintings in the show. There is an even mix of sculpture, photography, printmaking and textile/ornament. It is a really nice show.
A Tribute to Motherhood by Julian Beere. Blanket knit from paper in a cardboard box with an accompanying edition of bookworks that document his series of talks about the sculpture figures on the back of the Waltham Forest Town Hall.
