Leytonstone Arts Trail 2016

This will be the ninth Leytonstone Arts Trail!
Preview evenings on 30th June and 1st July will kick-off the Trail which runs 2-10 July 2016.

68 exhibitions, two full pages of events plus projects like the Gateposts Project.

You can flip through the guide soon on the website and in the meantime on the website you can read more about the artists and exhibitions.  When they are printed you'll be able to pick up a guide at the Stone Space Gallery, the Leytonstone Library, both near Leytonstone station, and many of the participating venues.

I will be participating in a few exhibitions and events:
I will have six to eight large paintings in the events room at the Heathcote Arms pub (you will pass it on the corner if you are walking from Leytonstone station to Norlington Road Studios.) My two paintings in the Waltham Forest Arts Club show at St John’s are a result of looking at gravitational waves a few years ago. I am working on some sculptures for that show as well; I am primarily a painter but often turn to sculpture when creating site specific work. I am making small acrylic paintings on paper from my Whole Picture series for the Art Grows on Trees in the churchyard. For the ‘Gateposts Project’ I will have a paper sculpture in a tree, some small art to take away and a pouch of flyers from my Have A Nice Day project (2004-ongoing) in the front garden of art lovers in Leytonstone.

'Nooks, Crannies and Niches' exhibition

Nooks, Crannies and Niches
Seven artists in Waltham Forest Arts Club will be creating an exhibition
at The Maker's Yard, an amazing space in East London.
June 11-15, 2014

Julian Beere - will present an interactive 'hide and seek' artist bookwork based on an idea presented at the 'Nature Culture' exhibition at The Makers Yard, in 2013.
Fiona Emm - will present a textiles hanging.
Natalie Gray - will present a mixed media installation.
Julie Caves - will present a sculptural installation of mythical female figures camouflaged within the lush setting of The Makers Yard garden.
Nicolette Murin - will present Waves, a site specific interaction, in the greenhouse of The Makers Yard.
Anna Bisset - will present environmental drawings made in and directly from the environment, be they outdoor or interior spaces. They will be evidence of time spent in quiet contemplation in an otherwise busy and demanding world and, as such, represent a break or a temporary escape from this reality, whilst depicting another aspect of it.
H Locke - will present a series of drawings.

Blackhorse Lane OPEN STUDIOS

Blackhorse Lane Open Studios and Silent Auction
Two days when artists open their private studios to the public.
Featuring: painting, sculpture, drawing, textiles, design, illustration, installation, ceramics, animation, photography and book arts.

Part of the E17 Art Trail.

This is your chance to meet artists in their work environments, get insights into how and what they create, and even take home a work of art. Engage in one of the most exciting aspects of contemporary art by discussing art with the artists themselves. Stop by and enjoy, be inspired and perhaps challenged at this friendly, relaxed event.

It is also a good opportunity to purchase original works at pre-gallery prices! Visitors will have the chance to bid on an artwork by a Blackhorse Lane artist in the Silent Auction. You can see the artworks in the auction in advance by going to the website: http://www.artworksproject.com. The Preview Evening on Friday Sep 9th from 6-9 pm will include bidding for the Silent Auction, a donation bar and entertainment.

For children we will be running an Art Quiz with prizes donated by Jackson’s Art Supplies. In the same building The Artworks Project Space will have its annual Open Exhibition. On Saturday the 10th there will be poetry readings all afternoon by the Forest Poets. Michelle Reader and Mike Thorn will have sculpture on display in the yard.
