Quantum/Standard Model exhibition at Espacio Gallery

12 artists are working towards an exhibition about physics
at Espacio Gallery near Brick Lane in London.
6 November 2013 - lasting 2 weeks
Details will soon be available.

We are working with a physicist from St Mary University who will be giving a talk during the exhibition and writing an essay for the catalogue. We will all have been working on the art for the exhibition for over 12 months and the evolving work has been fascinating so far. Lots of learning, interacting and helpful critiques. Everyone is going in different directions- some looking deeply at particle physics and others looking at the popularity of "science for everyman". It is going to be a really good exhibition.

Here is something I have been working on:
Motion is Shape, acrylic on canvas 100x70cm

I've been thinking about:
particles and waves, shape and motion, symmetry, macroscopic and microscopic, and vibrations among other mind-expanding things. The world is not what we intuitively think it is.

Recent small works - Hidden

In my practice I use colour and form to create space on the canvas, the ability to create the illusion of space on the flat surface still fascinates me. In the recent Hidden series I have been looking at the idea of obscuring the view of that space, making you want to duck your head around to see what it hidden behind. They are little paintings that themselves are small enough that they might become hidden in the gallery space.

Tasty Modern

I chose the most popular small painting from my Open Studios last September to be in Tasty Modern at Schwartz Gallery in Hackney Wick. An acrylic and gesso painting on wood panel called 'Songs Are Like Tattoos'.

"Tasty Modern is a metaphorical smorgasbord of contemporary art for the consumption of art ideas investigating the art of taste-making. In a thinly-veiled yet flavoursome dig at one of the temples of modern and contemporary art, Tasty Modern is a tongue-in-cheek look at current contemporary art practice in London."

Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays
Gallery opening hours: 12 - 5 p.m
Public view: Friday 15th February: 6 -10 p.m
